Develop Mobile Applications for SharePoint with Mobile Entree (CMS Wire)
Seeing as how SharePoint is so widely used within the enterprise today, it’s not a stretch to think that employees would want to access their SharePoint sites and content from their mobile devices. But out of the box, mobile functionality isn’t all the great.

Will Bing Boom or be a Big Bust? (BBC News)
Microsoft’s latest search engine could shake things up, says regular columnist Bill Thompson. While sales of hardware may be suffering greatly it seems that the general economic gloom has not yet diminished the ambitions of the larger technology companies to give us new products and services online.
Bing Overtakes Yahoo in Global Search Wars (Network World)
It didn’t take very long – less than a week – for Microsoft Corp.’s Bing to surpass Yahoo Inc. to become the number two search engine in the U.S. and worldwide. A report today from StatCounter Global Stats, which analyzes Web site traffic, also shows that Bing grabbed some market share from rival Google Inc. StatCounter analyzed search engine use on Thursday and found that while Google still dominates the U.S. search engine market with a 71.47% share, Bing grabbed 16.28% and Yahoo came in third with 10.22%.
How Windows 7 Became the Safest Windows Ever (Tech Radar)
These are dangerous times for Microsoft. Internet Explorer’s market share has gone down around seven per cent over the last year, Windows use is also falling and dissatisfaction with Vista means that more people than ever are seriously looking at alternatives to the standard PC.
WWDC 2009: What will Apple do? (CNET)
Trying to predict what we’ll see at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference this year gives one the slight feeling of deja vu. Heading into the annual conference last year, we knew there would be three basic topics covered in the event’s opening keynote speech: OS X 10.6, the iPhone platform, and new iPhone hardware. You can bet that WWDC 2009–sold out for the second straight year–will hit on those same three areas. But there are still plenty of questions surrounding the specific details of what we’ll see Monday morning when the conference opens at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

Bigger SharePoint Templates (Andy Dale SharePoint Blog)
Everyone these days wants more from their SharePoint. In fact it seems everyone wants more full stop. This week was sad for me not just because I suffered the effects of flu (hopefully not Swine Flu), but also after twelve great years Gareth Barry left Aston Villa. I first started watching him when he marked Ian Wright out of the game in his first full Villa match when he was just 17. But Gareth now, like our SharePoint users and a certain Oliver Twist, wants MORE. He wants more money and so has followed the money trail to the mega-rich of Manchester City. Where money does seem to be no object. Perhaps we shouldn’t begrudge him an extra £30,000 a week at least all the tax he is paying will help replace the money the MPs have claimed in expenses.
Debugging Your Code Execution for Anonymous Users in SharePoint (Tobias Zimmergren’s thoughts on development)
Often when developing solutions that has anonymous users enabled, it can be hard to debug them from your local machine – because when you reach a point in your code where permissions higher than anonymous is required, SharePoint automatically tries to identify the user. This means that if you’re running local development, and is browsing as an anonymous user – everything can be fine until you hit a line of code in your application that requires authentication, you are then automatically logged in.
TechNet Launches New Interactive Silverlight Application for STSADM Technical Reference (Microsoft SharePoint Team Blog)
The vision was to plan, design, develop, test and publish a high quality SilverLight application that would improve the overall customer experience with the current downloadable Visio diagram for the STSADM SharePoint command line admin tool. We have delivered; our application provides a fully browsable interface, in-depth information from the TechNet TOC and library, and links to specific topics for each STSADM command line operation and property. Guest Blog by H3 Solutions’ Jason Hall – Hitting the Easy Button for SharePoint Mobile Application Development (The Bamboo Team Blog)
Here we are, the last post in the Mobile Entrée series. We’ve covered the high level fluff, and we’ve gone inside to see it’s guts, but we haven’t mentioned much of the API. Probably the single most compelling aspect of Mobile Entrée is the platform it provides you as developers to build rich mobile applications. If you know how to create features and Web Parts, you are just a couple steps from adding “Mobile Application Development” to your resume.

MOSS 2007 : Field associated with content types don’t retain when switching content type between read-only and read-write mode (KBAlertz – Microsoft Knowledge Base Article)
A custom content type associated with a list does not retain their field associations when the content type is switched to read-only and then switched back to read-write mode.
Introduction to integrating data between Access and a SharePoint site (Microsoft Office Access)
You can share and manage data in many ways by using Microsoft Office Access 2007 with Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. You can benefit from the collaboration features of a SharePoint site while continuing to use the data entry and analysis features of Access. For example, you can track versions of data, subscribe to alerts so that you know when changes are made, and manage permissions for the data.
About site templates (Windows SharePoint Services)
Members of the Administrator site group and write access to site template gallery can customize a site and save the customized site as a site template, so that other users in the site collection (site collection: A set of Web sites on a virtual server that have the same owner and share administration settings. Each site collection contains a top-level Web site and can contain one or more subsites.) can create similar sites later. When a user creates a new subsites (subsite: A complete Web site stored in a named subdirectory of the top-level Web site. Each subsite can have administration, authoring, and browsing permissions that are independent from the top-level Web site and other subsites.), he or she can choose from the combined list of site templates available on the server or on the site collection. Administrators of a site collection can also import a site template created by another user or software vendor and add the new template to the available site templates in the site collection.
Use a Three-state workflow (Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS))
The Three-state workflow is designed to track the status of a list item through three states (phases). It can be used to manage business processes that require organizations to track a high volume of issues or items, such as customer support issues, sales leads, or project tasks.
Workflow example: Send a notification message (Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer)
Your team uses the Shared Documents library to collaborate on documents, and your team uses the Assigned To column to track whom documents are assigned to. Instead of having all members of the team continually checking the team site to see if they have documents newly assigned to them, you want to create a workflow that automatically sends an e-mail message to any team member when they receive an assignment. You can quickly do this by creating a one-step workflow.
