Three Continents, One SharePoint Story (CMSWatch)
SharePoint has been on my mind a lot recently, not least because we have been undertaking more research on the product and its usage in an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) context. I’ve also had the unusual opportunity to speak to integrators, resellers and buyers on three continents over the past couple of weeks. The questions I asked may not have been scientific, or statistically meaningful, but they have at least been consistent. Continue reading this entry »

SharePoint: Pros and Cons (iWRBlog)
Sorry to bang on about content management again, I do have better things to do with my time, honestly. It’s just that a bit of news caught my eye again at the tail end of last week. A lot of noise is made by commentators about the impact of SharePoint on the industry. You certainly can’t talk about content management, or ECM, these days without mentioning Microsoft’s disruptive product, but you certainly can talk until the cows come home about whether it’s a full ECM solution or not. Christine DawsonSince starting SharePoint Daily my Outlook inbox gets more use than ever. Sometimes people send me interesting articles to use (which I greatly appreciate) and sometimes I get a short note thanking me for putting SPD together every morning. This week at the Mindsharp Best Practices Conference I had something new happen, I met a subscriber in person. I was taking pictures of the crowds visiting the Bamboo Booth when Jeff waved for me to come over and speak with someone. After fighting my way through the crowds I was introduced to Christine Dawson of Edelman Financial Services. It was a pleasure meeting Christine and I was very happy to hear how she scans SPD every morning and bookmarks certain articles to read later, then passes the newsletter on to others in her office. Christine, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by and speak for a few. Be sure to watch your mail, I think there may be something headed your way. Continue reading this entry »
