I’d like to take a minute to bring to your attention a particularly time-sensitive item. Today at noon (EST), SharePoint MVP Bob Mixon will be hosting a FREE webinar called Findability: Tools and Technology Alone is not the Answer. Today’s webinar is the first in a six-part series focusing on various SharePoint challenges. I have seen a little of what will be discussed, and think that all attendees will find the series to be very informative. Register fast as space is filling up quickly. Continue reading this entry »

Peering Into Microsoft’s Cloud (Read Write Web)
On July 24th, Microsoft held their annual Financial Analyst Meeting (FAM), an event where many of Microsoft’s top executives come together to talk about the company’s progress and achievements. At this year’s meeting, Microsoft Chief Software Architect, Ray Ozzie hinted at Microsoft’s cloud initiatives, a part of their Software + Services (S+S) strategy. While Ozzie did not reveal either codenames or ship dates during his speech, there is still some information we can piece together to help determine what Microsoft’s cloud will look like. Microsoft Cloud Initiative Announcement Looming (Network World)
With the new fiscal year beginning, I think we’ll see Microsoft’s cloud announcement sometime in the next three months, no later than the end of the year. Last week Microsoft Chief Software Architect, Ray Ozzie, stood in front of the 08 Financial Analysts Meeting hinting at Microsoft cloud initiatives as “progressively move to embrace the cloud”, “significant announcements, significant efforts” and “broader in scope and different than our competitors”. Good morning and Happy Thursday. Getting away from news and blogging for a second, I’d like to mention something I noticed here in the Bamboo offices. Being in community, I see a lot of the email that comes to Bamboo and there seem to be a large number from project managers. Almost all have questions on how we can help make their jobs more manageable. Well, we listened and put together SharePoint for Project Managers to help answer these questions. What started as a small informational site talking about the project management process that we use quickly took on a life of its own. After a bit of soul searching we decided it could be even better with the input of an expert in the field. With some rather extensive research, we decided to work in partnership with Dux Raymond Sy who not only writes but teaches SharePoint for Project Management. He offers his own suggestions that are not only informational but practical. Hopefully this site will help you leverage all of SharePoint’s capabilities to increase the productivity of your team. Take a look, let us know what you think and don’t be afraid to ask those tough questions. Continue reading this entry »

Yesterday seemed to be a slow news day for SharePoint so help me out here guys, I know there has to be something good out there. Probably the biggest things I have seen this week are the start of the International SharePoint Professionals Association and  the launch of SharePoint Magazine. Bob Fox should be giving us the full scoop on the ISPA later today and John beat me to the punch (or at least the PUBLISH BUTTON) on SharePoint Magazine. I also included a link on the latest Microsoft earnings report. While not really SharePoint related I still found it interesting. Have a great weekend out there and don’t forget to send me those links.  [:D] Continue reading this entry »
